About Nicolette

Nicolette began her working life as a high school mathematics teacher. As she grew increasingly aware of the emotional needs of some of the students in her classes, she began her study of psychology. She soon moved entirely into the field of psychology – working in schools and community health settings with adults, families and children.

Developing Countries

Nicolette was born in Sri Lanka, after spending her childhood there she migrated to Australia with her family as a teenager. This has deeply influenced her value of being able to give back to communities that are under-resourced especially in the area of mental health.

Recently, Nicolette joined a group of health professionals and volunteered her time conducting mental health training for health workers from the Karen Health Department in Myanmar. She has also volunteered her time in Sri Lanka to support and train local counselors, teachers and community leaders. She plans to continue to give her skills, knowledge and time to support mental health work in developing countries.
